My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! (
Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei
shite shimatta...) is a popular Japanese light novel series written by Yamaguchi Satoru, with character designs and
illustrations by Hidaka Nami. The series is one of the earliest "reborn as the villainess of an otome game" stories, and it
has inspired multiple adaptations, including two manga series, an anime series and anime movie, video games, and other spin-offs.
Katarina (Catarina) Claes, the young daughter of a duke, hits her head and realizes that she has been reincarnated into the world
of an
otome game. Game Katarina is one of the primary
villainesses, and due to her harassment of the heroine and her malicious treatment of her fiance and her adopted brother, she
dies or is exiled in those two characters' routes. Real Katarina thinks this is awful, so she aims to avoid her destruction
ends by getting out of her engagement with the prince and treating her adopted brother kindly. However, though real Katarina
is a pure-hearted and earnest girl, she is also really, really dumb - earning the nickname "Bakarina" from her fans - and she
unwittingly creates a reverse harem of all the main characters in the game, both male and female.
The light novel series, which currently has fourteen volumes, is licensed in English by
J-Novel Club,
and the manga series by Hidaka Nami currently has ten volumes and is licensed in English by
Seven Seas Entertainment.
